FreeStar Financial Credit Union CEO Elected Selfridge Base Community Council President

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – FreeStar Financial Credit Union’s President/CEO, Drema D. Isaac, was elected President of the Selfridge Air National Guard Base Community Council effective July 1, 2021.

Isaac served as the Council’s President-Elect since 2019, was its Treasurer from 2016 to 2019, and has been a volunteer member since 2002. She is the second woman to hold the position of president since the organization was founded in 1940.

The Council has over 250 business members who jointly foster relationships between the military population on base and the local community. The group helps plan, promote, and execute the Selfridge Air National Guard Base Open House and Air Show, one of its largest community events. The Council also hosts charitable and social functions and donates thousands of dollars each year to support local military organizations. Their financial assistance helps promote the prosperity and quality of life for our military defense and civilian communities.

“Ms. Isaac has spent her professional career serving the military members who serve us,” said Raymond White Jr., FreeStar Financial’s board chairman. “Our Credit Union was established on base at Selfridge in 1957 and serves military members deployed throughout the world.” Chairman White added, “Drema’s unique perspective will foster the development of greater military and civilian partnerships,”

Isaac’s other volunteer community service roles include Executive Board Chairperson of the Metro East Chapter of Credit Unions, Board Director of the Michigan Credit Union League, and Member of the Macomb County Chamber’s Aerospace and Defense Committee. Ms. Isaac received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Morehead State University and is a graduate of Leadership Macomb XVII.

Other noteworthy awards include the Credit Union National Association’s Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award and Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award for community service.
