FreeStar Financial Credit Union Announces 2024 Scholarship Award Recipients

FreeStar Financial Credit Union is proud to unveil the recipients of our 2024 Scholarship Awards, recognizing exceptional young individuals from our community who are embarking on their college journeys with ambition and commitment to their chosen fields.

Military Honors Scholarship Recipients:

  • Alexandra Peters, a graduate from Grosse Pointe South High School, will be pursuing Elementary Education at Oakland University. Alexandra is known for her passion for competitive dance and her dedication to various community fundraisers.

  • Erica Surratt recently graduated from Bishop Foley Catholic High School and is set to attend Central Michigan University to study mechanical engineering. Erica has been actively involved in community service, both at school and within her local community.

Community Action Scholarship Recipients:

  • Troy Korns, from Lutheran North High School, is heading to Kettering University to study computer science with a focus on cybersecurity. Troy aims to integrate his technical skills within the automotive industry and has been an active volunteer, especially in helping seniors during the pandemic.

  • Bryce Lattimore will join Saginaw Valley State University this fall, pursuing a degree in exercise science. A graduate of Wylie E. Groves High School, Bryce plans to leverage his education toward a career in coaching or athletic training, demonstrating leadership through volunteering in sports and community church activities.
